The Parque Botánico El Majuelo – Botanical Gardens – in Almuñecar is located below the Castillo de San Miguel and right next to the ancient Roman fish salting factory and contains over 200 species of sub-tropical plants from all over the world.
There are plants and trees, including a lot of palms, from Central and South America, Africa, the Philippines and New Zealand. The park is not huge but it does contain a lot of interesting plants and trees, well worth a look if you are in the area. Nice place for a picnic, too.
Entry is free and there is a cafe in the park.
