Part of the Carnaval celebrations is the Entierro del Chanquete/Burial of the Sardine and this took place on Sunday February 19th 2023. The ‘event’ finishes with the interment of the chanquete at Calahonda beach and a firework display. Wailing widows accompany the procession along with various carnival figures and winners of various awards.
